My Counselling Experience
I have completed 3 years training at Scarborough Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute on the Advanced Diploma in Relational Centred Counselling course and I am now working towards UKCP accreditation.
I worked as a volunteer Counsellor for a local charity for a year and have been working in private practice counselling clients since May 2016.
I understand the deep connection between physical and emotional health. I have an established yoga, meditation and tai chi practice. I am a successful amateur athlete competing in ultra marathons and endurance events. This has helped me to develop a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection and how improving your body awareness and understanding can potentially enrich your life, help to develop both physical and emotional health and resilience for when life becomes challenging.
Prior to becoming a counsellor I worked for the local authority for 15 years in various roles supporting children, young people and families. I am experienced working with teens and adolescents. I have experience supporting young people with issues of stress, anxiety, confidence, anger, family breakdown, drugs, alcohol, sex and relationships, risk taking behaviour, poor self-esteem, gender and sexuality, law and the youth justice system, special educational needs, autism, independence, creativity and expression, education, employment and training, illness, health and well-being
I am committed to Continued Professional Development and some of my additional training includes:
Level 2 NVQ in youth work
ABC LEVEL 3 diploma in youth work
Level 5 diploma in Leadership for health and social care and children and young people’s services
